Back to NewsYou may have heard that Probate fees were set to rise following the last budget from a flat fee of £215 to a sliding scale which would have cost nothing for estates under £50,000 up to £20,000 for estates over £2m.
Fortunately due to the snap general election it has been confirmed that there is not enough time for the government to make this law and even if the Conservatives win the election plans to raise probate fees may be dropped completely.
This means that the Ministry of Justice will have to look at other avenues of raising income so it may mean that the burden is passed onto another court service.
